LOWVILLE, N.Y. —
Margaret L. Burdick, 95, passed away Friday, March 23, at
the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility in
Lowville where she had been a resident for a year.
Born Feb. 5, 1917, in Betula, Pa., a daughter of Joseph and
Giovanna Lorenzini, she was raised in Lowville and graduated
from Lowville Free Academy,
She married Norton T. Burdick of Grieg on May 20, 1945, at
St. Peters Church in Lowville.
Mrs. Burdick lived five years in Port Leyden where her
husband ran Burdick’s Superette, and then in Carthage
where she and her husband owned Burdick Dodge for over 20
years. After her husband’s death she moved to Valley
View Apartments in Lowville, where she resided for 10 years.
A member of the Port Leyden Monday Club and of the Carthage
Argonauts Book Club, she devoted many years to volunteer
work at both the Carthage and Lowville community libraries.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet E. (Robert) Stange,
Riverton, Wy.; a son, John N. Burdick, Scarborough, Maine;
an older sister, Mae Howley, Lowville; four grandchildren
and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Norton, a daughter,
Margaret Ann, her sisters, Angelina (Louis) Meda and Theresa
Ely, as well as four brothers, Tony, Virgil, Hector and
Floriano Lorenzini.
A memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. May 21 at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in Glenfield with burial in Old Glendale
Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will follow.
Memorial contributions can be made to either the Carthage or
the Lowville community libraries, both of which she loved.
