Virginia C. Lundy

COPENHAGEN, N.Y.  —  Virginia C. Lundy, 62, of 10229 Washington St., died Wednesday evening, April 2, at her residence following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home, Copenhagen, with Rev. Harry R. Little, Rev. Hugh Connaghan and Rev. Walter Giles co-officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Champion. Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 4, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the funeral home with an Eastern Star Ritual Service held at 3:30 p.m.

Surviving are her husband, Samuel; two sons and a daughter-in-law; Cullen D., Carthage and Garrett M. and Joyce, Carthage; a daughter, Janessa C. Lundy, and her fiancé’ John Wasilenko, Copenhagen; a brother and his wife, David and Lynette Beck, Carthage; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda Spano, Niles, Ohio, and Beth and James Kellams, Louisville, Ohio; two grandchildren; a nephew, four nieces and two great nieces.   

Born Aug. 18, 1945, in Kingston, the daughter of Glen and Mildred Gustovich Beck, she graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in Ohio. She graduated from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, and received her Master’s degree from SUNY Potsdam.  She attended Canton ATC Mortuary Science Program.   

She married Samuel P. Lundy on Oct. 14, 1972, at the Harrisville United Methodist Church with Rev. Frank A. Scott officiating. The couple owned and resided in the Dunlop-Lundy Funeral Home during their early years of marriage.  The moved to Carthage and purchased the Bossuot Funeral Home business, now known as the Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home.  After retirement, the couple built a funeral home in Copenhagen and made it their residence as well.  

Prior to her marriage, she taught at Copenhagen and Harrisville Central School.  She was a substitute teacher for the last 15 years at the Carthage Central School District.  

Mrs. Lundy was a communicant and treasurer of Grace Episcopal Church in Copenhagen, the Worthy Matron of Zenith-Copenhagen-Carthage Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Red Hat Society. 

She was also the secretary/treasurer for Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home. 

Memorial contributions can be made in Virginia’s name to the Copenhagen Fire Department.
