Geraldine E. O'Brien

WATERTOWN, N.Y. —  Geraldine E. O’Brien, 79, of 1185 Johnsarbor Drive West, St. John’s Meadows, Rochester, died April 4, at St. John’s Home, Rochester.

Born Nov. 2, 1927, in Fowler, a daughter of John and Myrtle Worden Blackburn, she graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1944 and attended the Watertown School of Commerce. 

Before her marriage, Mrs. O’Brien was employed with the W.H. Loomis Talc Company in Gouverneur. 

On June 11, 1949, she married Robert O’Brien at St. James Church in Gouverneur.  He died Oct. 23, 2002. After their marriage, the couple moved to Watertown until 1990. 

Mrs. O’Brien volunteered for many organizations. Mrs. O’Brien was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in Rochester. 

Mrs. O’Brien is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas and Gael, Chicago, IL. and Michael, Palm Bay, Fla.; four daughters and two sons-in-law Mary Ellen O’Brien, Ft. Wayne, Ind., Nancy and Michael Dowling, Lewis Center, Ohio, Maureen and Mark Minavio, Rochester and Michelle O’Brien and her fiancé Paul Grim, Rochester; two sisters, Mable Link, Fowler and Betty Hall, Watertown; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc.  A prayer service will be held 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at  the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Holy Family Church with Reverend Steven Murray officiating.  Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
