Helen Julanne "Judy" A. Kieffer, 81, died peacefully on Friday, April 6, with her loving family at her side.

Born June 21, 1930, in Syracuse, the daughter of late William B. and Genevieve J. Amidon of Syracuse, she was a graduate of South Onondaga Central High School and received her bachelor's of education degree at SUNY Oswego in Elementary Education in 1951.

Her years teaching were in Syracuse, Liverpool, Port Byron and later ran her own Nursery school for several years. 

She enjoyed teaching, knitting, playing cards, reading and volunteering at the Port Byron, N.Y., Bradenton, Fla., and Brantingham Libraries.

She married John C. "Jack" Kieffer, Jr. on July 19, 1952. 

Judy is survived by her husband of 60 years, four children, Kathleen Barzee, Moore, S.C., Pamela and her husband Daniel Brewer, Brantingham, Gary Kieffer and his wife, Teri, Moravia, and Sheila and her husband, Scott Saroodis, Port Byron; two sisters, Joyce and her husband, Frank Howlett, Marcellus, and Justine and her husband, Robert Gowing, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 5457  Shady Ave.; Lowville, with Rev. Lawrence Marullo officiating. Interment will follow in Brantingham Cemetery, North-South Road, Brantingham. 

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 9, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Rd., Lowville.
