STAR LAKE, N.Y. —  Raymond E. “Wob” Provost, 67, 4365 Route 3, died Wednesday morning at Clifton Fine Hospital after being stricken at home. 

Born April 14, 1940, in  Newton Falls, the son of Raymond J. and Kathleen Hiscock Provost, he attended Clifton Fine Central School. 

He married Lynn Akey on March 16, 1972. 

Mr. Provost worked at Newton Falls Paper Company for 39 years retiring in 1997.  

He was a member of the Newton Falls Fire Dept for 40 years. He was also a former member of the Newton Falls Hunting Club. 

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, drawing and spending quality time with family. 

Besides his wife of Star Lake, he is survived by two sons, Brad, Richmond, Va., and Raymond Jr., Brasher Falls; two daughters and their husbands, Candy and James Johnson, South Colton; and Crystal and Dustin Brooks, Morristown; three brothers, Walter, Newton Falls; Robert, Oswegatchie, and Frederick, Fine; eight grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A grandson, Peyton James Johnson, and two brothers, Gerald and Douglas, all died before him.

A funeral Mass will be said 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church, Star Lake, with Father Robert Decker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be private. There will be no calling hours. 

Arrangements are with the Adirondack Funeral Home State Highway 3, Star Lake.

At the request of the family, instead of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Star Lake Fire Department,  P.O. Box 22, Star Lake, N.Y. 13690.
