CROGHAN, N.Y.   —  Arlene I. Zehr, 79, of Belfort Rd., died Saturday morning at Lewis County General Hospital.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 .m. Tuesday, April 12, at the Croghan Mennonite Church with the Rev’s Chad Atwood and Evan Zehr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the church.

Adirondack Funeral Home, Croghan, has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Born Sept. 22, 1931, the town of Harrisburg, to Joel and Rachel Gingerich Widrick. She attended Town of Lowville rural schools. 

She married Ralph E. Zehr of Belfort on Oct. 12, 1949, at the Lowville Mennonite Church with the Rev. Lloyd Boshart officiating.

Mrs. Zehr was a member of the Croghan Mennonite Church and the Dorcas Sisters Sewing Circle. 

She enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, travelling and spending time with family.

She is survived by her husband of Croghan; three daughters and their husbands Lucy and Earl Roggie, and Yvonne “Bonnie” and Alvis Bender, all of Castorland and Anita and David Lyndaker, Croghan. She has two sons and their wives, Larry and Rosa, Lake Butler  FL; and Randall and Susan, Lowville. She is also survived by a brother and sister in law, John and Rita Widrick, Syracuse; three sisters, Fanny Lyndaker and Barbara Brown of Lowville; and Sally Cooper, Copenhagen; 16 grandchildren, 27 great- grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins.
