Nancy L. McLennan

ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y.    Nancy Leonhardt McLennan, 78, of Alexandria Bay, passed away Thursday, April 11, at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Fla.

Born Aug. 16, 1934, in Alexandria Bay, the daughter of Harold G. and Hazel Thompson Leonhardt, she graduated from Alexandria Bay Central School and then Potsdam State. 

She married Ronald J. McLennan on June 30, 1957, and spent 54 wonderful years together.

Mrs. McLennan started teaching at Alexandria Bay Elementary School in September 1959 and enjoyed her service for six years, continuing on to Clayton Elementary School for an additional 27 years. 

She divided her time between Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and her beloved home of Alexandria Bay where she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, basket making, fishing and boating on the beautiful St. Lawrence River. 

Nancy was active in her community and took great pride in helping others.

Surviving are a son, Stanley G. McLennan and wife, Joyce, Windsor Locks, Conn., and Carolyn McLennan, New York City, N.Y.; a grandson, Bryan McLennan, Windsor Locks, Conn.; and a sister-in-law, Claire Leonhardt, Alexandria Bay. 

A brother, Harwood M. Leonhardt, died before her.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9, in the Alexandria Bay at the United Methodist Church, Alexandria Bay.
