— Funeral services for Floyd J. Ulrich, 96, will be
10 a.m. Thursday, April 17, at Lowville Baptist Church with Rev. Everett F. Reed, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery,
Croghan.
Calling hours will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Sundquist Funeral Home, 7676 State
St., Lowville, where the Masons will conduct a service at 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Ulrich, a former Lewis County Clerk, died early Tuesday morning at his home on Hummingbird Lane while under the care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.
The family has requested memorials be made to the Lowville Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 7627 State Street, Lowville,
N.Y. 13367 in memory of Mr. Ulrich, or to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, Inc., P.O. Box 266, Lowville,
N.Y. 13367.
Mr. Ulrich was a member of the Lowville Baptist Church since 1924, where he served as deacon, trustee and moderator and also helped with the
church’s maintenance.
Born Oct. 26, 1911, in Kirschnerville, son of Peter and Anna Hunziker Ulrich,
he was a 1930 graduate of Lowville Free Academy. He served in the
Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
He married Kathaleen L. "Kay" Brown on Aug. 24,
1946, at the Lowville Baptist Church, with Rev. Fred Robert Tiffany, pastor of the Richmond Hill Baptist Church, officiating. Together the couple made their home in Lowville, all their married life.
Mr. Ulrich retired as Lewis County Clerk in 1979, after 21 years of service and Mrs. Ulrich was assistant librarian at the Lowville Free Library for many years. In 2006, the couple celebrated 60 years of marriage.
In 1935, Mr. Ulrich joined the Lowville Masonic Lodge #134, F.&A.M. was a Royal Arch Mason and a member of the 1st Craftsman Masonic Fellowcraft Team. In 1983, he received the Dedicated Service Award given by the Masons and in 2005, he received his 70th year membership pin.
Mr. Ulrich was also a member of the American Legion Post #162 and Lewis County Memorial Post #6912, Constable Hall Society, the Lewis County Historical Society and was a life member of the Lowville Fish and Game Club.
He was an avid golfer and a long time member of the Carlowden Country Club.
In addition to his wife, Kay, Lowville, he is survived by a son and
his wife, Lawrence P. and Susan Ulrich, New Hartford; a daughter and
her husband, Carol A. and Jerry Loch, Watertown; a sister, Eleanor Moran,
Carthage; a grandson and his wife, Steven L. and Jenny Watkins,
Adams; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Four sisters, Mildred Nortz, Arletha Kilpatrick, Pauline Millard and Maxine U. Roberts,
all died before him.
