Marcella B. Campany

LOWVILLE, N.Y.    Marcella “Sally” Brucker Campany, 83, of Stowe Street, died Tuesday, April 16.

Born
Oct. 4, 1929, in Meadville, Pa., the daughter of the late Raymond O. and Gladys Swift Williams, she graduated in June 1947 from Adams Center Central High School.

She married James H. Campany on Dec. 6, 1947, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Hogan officiating. 

Mrs. Campany worked in the kitchen for nine years at the Lewis County General Hospital, retiring in 1984.

She was an active member and communicant of St. Peter’s Church where she also served as Eucharistic Minister for several years. 

During the 1950s and 1960s, Sally was a Girl Scout leader for ten years and Cub Scout mother for three years and Pack secretary for five years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 23 years, as of 2004. 

Her favorite past-time was playing Bingo and serving on that committee.

Surviving are a son, Edwin C. Campany, and his wife, Sandra, Lowville.

She was predeceased by her sister and husband, Genevieve and George Carroll; two step-sisters Beatrice Williams and Eleanor Graves and two step-brothers, Kenneth G. Williams and Raymond O. Williams, Jr.

A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday, April 19, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Christopher Carrara officiating. Burial will be in the Lowville Rural Cemetery alongside her husband, James, who died Dec. 16, 1997.

Family and friends are invited to call 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at Sundquist Funeral Home where Lowville American Legion Auxiliary, Post #162, will conduct a service at 7 p.m.
