James H. Pickett

DEXTER, N.Y.    James H. Pickett, 81, of Limerick, passed away Monday evening, April 15, at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, where he had been a patient since March 2.

James was born May 12, 1931, in Watertown, the son of William and Bertha Lane Pickett. He left school early and joined the Army in 1949 and served with the 75th AAA Battery D at Fort Meade and Fort Bliss. He was discharged in 1952.

Mr. Pickett  was a Teamster driving truck for various firms including DeLuxe Trucking in Watertown. He was a member of Local #687 Teamsters Union.

He married Joanne M. Weston in 1976. She passed away in 2011.

Surviving are four children, William B. Pickett, Brownville, James Pickett, Watertown, Joanne Burns, Watertown and Debbie Kimball, Watertown; several grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and a brother, Gilbert Pickett, Depauville.

Three sons Michael, Steven and James Jr. and two brothers, Robert and Kenny Pickett, all died before him.

There will be no calling hours or funeral. Burial will be private at Brownville Cemetery. 

Donations may be made to American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
