Stella M. Jarecki

LOWVILLE, N.Y.  —  Stella Mary Jarecki, 78, formerly of Utica, died on Thursday afternoon, April 17, at Lewis County General Hospital. 

A funeral mass will be said 10 a.m. Monday, April 21, at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville, with Rev. Christopher J. Looby, parochial vicar, officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Glendale Cemetery in Glenfield. 

Family and friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 20, at the Sundquist Funeral Home, 7676 State St., Lowville.

Memorials may be made to St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, c/o St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 5457 Shady Ave., Lowville, N.Y. 13367 in memory of Miss Jarecki.

Born July 17, 1929, in Turin, daughter of Albert and Bertha Phillips Jarecki, she attended country school on Tug Hill. 

She worked for General Electric in Utica, on Broad Street before working at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home where she retired from the housekeeping department. 

Miss Jarecki never married.

She had resided in the Lewis County Healthcare Facility since 2004.

Miss Jarecki was a communicant of St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church and was a member of its Altar Rosary Society. 

She was also a graduate of the Arthur Murray School of Dance and in her younger years enjoyed ballroom dancing. Miss Jarecki especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving are a brother, Peter, Lyonsdale; three sisters, Anne Carle, Warren, N.J., Genevieve Seelman, Lowville, and Josephine Mroz, Scottsdale, Ariz.; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. 

Three sisters, Joan “Jennie”, Julia and Ruth Jarecki, and five brothers, Benjamin, Paul, Frank, Raymond and John Jarecki, all died before her.
