WATERTOWN, N.Y. — A
graveside service for James R. Purvis, Sr., will be 1.30
p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the North Watertown
Cemetery, Bradley St. A calling hour will be noon to
1p.m. Wednesday at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.
Contributions may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation.
Mr. Purvis, 64, formerly of
Sterling Street, died Friday at the Samaritan Medical
Center.
He was a boiler tender on
Fort Drum for several years.
Born July 2, 1943, in Watertown, a son of Robert and
Florence Dodge Purvis.
He enjoyed playing pool and fishing. He was a former
member of the Lincoln League.
Two marriages ended in divorce.
Besides his mother of Watertown, he is survived by two sons,
James Jr., Watertown, and Daniel, Joplin, Mo.; a daughter,
Sandra Lee Christie, Watertown; several grandchildren and a
great-grandchild; two brothers, Raymond, Fla., and Donald, Va.;
three sisters, Shirley Savage, Dexter, Patricia LaHair, Fla.,
and Sandra Yott, Watertown;several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son
Steven, died in infancy, a brother, Richard, and his father
who died in 1990.
