GLENFIELD, N.Y. —
Stella M. Domagala, 95,
formerly of Blue Street, died Monday evening, May 9, at the
Lewis County General Hospital.
A funeral Mass will be said 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12, at St.
Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville with Rev. Christopher
Carrara, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Old
Glendale Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 10 a.m.
Thursday at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville, prior to
the funeral mass.
Born May 6, 1916, at home in the town of Turin, a daughter
of the late Joseph and Mary Kulpa Matula, she attended
country school in Houseville.
Before her marriage, she worked doing domestic work in New
York City.
She married John A. Domagala on Aug. 14, 1938, at St.
Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Houseville. Mr. Domagala died
Sept. 5, 1980.
Together with her husband, the couple owned and operated a
dairy farm on the Meiss Road in Glenfield from 1948 until
1968, at which time they moved to Blue Street in Glenfield.
Mrs. Domagala was a long-time communicant of St. Hedwig’s
Church in Houseville.
She was a member of the Singing Waters Senior Citizens in
Glenfield, the St. Hedwig’s Society, and the
Polish-American Club in Glenfield.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Surviving are her two children and their spouses, Mary D.
and Edward Kubinski, Lyons Falls, and John J. and Linda
Domagala, Glenfield; a brother, Frederick Matula, Lowville;
10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews
and cousins.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Edward, Joseph, Bennie
and Stephen Matula; and seven sisters, Victoria and
Stephanie Matula who died in infancy, Julia and Helen Matula,
Jennie Glica, Louise Nizza, and Sophie Dubiel.
