Edith M. Gibbs

LOWVILLE, N.Y.  —  Edith M. Gibbs, 91, of Valley View Courts, died early Tuesday morning, May 10, at her home. Edith has resided at Valley View since 1993.

Born April 16, 1920, in the town of Croghan, the daughter of the late Peter B. and Gertrude B. Millard Yousey, she attended Gooville rural school outside of Croghan.

She married Eugene G. Gibbs on April 21, 1943, at Forest Presbyterian Church in Lyons Falls while Gene was serving in the Army. The couple made their home in Lyons Falls and later moved to Lowville. Mrs. Gibbs was a homemaker and Gene worked for NYS Highway Department. He died Nov. 13, 1988.

Surviving are four sisters, Phyllis Noftsier and Ruby J. Gibbs, both of Lowville, Lucille Getman, Turin, and Janet Lehman, Pa.; a brother, Peter A. Yousey, Boonville; nieces and nephews. 

A brother, Kenneth A. Yousey, and a sister Ruth LaVine, died before her.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, at Sundquist Funeral Home with Pastor Keith W. Hardy of the Bethel Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Lyons Falls. 

A calling hour will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
