Clinton J. Hanno

LOWVILLE, N.Y. – Clinton J. Hanno, 79, of Rural Avenue died early Friday morning, May 12, 2006 at his home under the care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.

Born in Lowville, NY on January 8, 1927 the son of Norie and Adeline Martin Hanno. He attended Lowville Academy School, and entered the US. Army on April 16, 1945, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre in the occupation of Japan, he was honorably discharged in December 16, 1946. 

He married Marlean M. Campany on November 27, 1948 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. John M. Hogan, officiating. Mrs. Hanno died on January 11, 2004. Mr. Hanno was a tool and die maker for over 40 years at Beaverite in Croghan.

He is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and John Kellogg, North Chili; Linda and Harry Nortz, Croghan; Beth and Brian O’Grady, Cambridge; six sisters and a brother-in-law, Rosemary Dean, Lowville; Elizabeth Cobb, Glenfield; Catherine Csizmar, Port Leyden; Margaret Turck, Carolyn Lyndaker and Louise and Eugene Lyndaker all of Croghan; three grandsons, three granddaughters, and a great granddaughter; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He is predeceased by four brothers, Gerald P., Raymond J., Robert N., and Russell A. Hanno.

He was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, a member of Lewis County Memorial Post #6912, VFW, and Lowville American Legion Post #162. Mr. Hanno enjoyed hunting and was a member of Number Four Hunting Club. He also was an avid bowler and participated in tournaments with the American Legion.

A funeral mass will be said on Monday, May 15, 2006 at 10:00am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Timothy J. Soucy, Pastor, officiating.

A military burial will be in Beaches Bridge Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 14, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Virkler-Percoski Funeral Home where the V.F.W. Post #6912, American Legion Post #162, and Lewis County Marine Corps League will conduct a service at 7:00 p.m.
