Bertha F. Boucher

LOWVILLE, N.Y.  —  Bertha Frances Boucher, 87, formerly of Church Street, died Tuesday afternoon, May 13, at the home of her daughter and her husband, Linda M. and Leonard DeWitt, in New Windsor, N.Y., where she was under the care of her family and Hospice of Orange and Sullivan counties. 

A funeral Mass will be said 10 a.m. Friday, May 16, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville, with Rev. Timothy J. Soucy, pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lowville Rural Cemetery.  A gathering at St. Peter’s Church Hall will follow the burial.  Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville.  

Contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 5457 Shady Ave., Lowville, N.Y. 13367.  

Born March 22, 1921, in Glenfield, a daughter of Frank and Gussie Dlubach Bush, she graduated from Lowville Free Academy. 

She married Victor Boucher on Nov. 3, 1939, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville. He died Feb. 20, 1974.  She spent all of her married life in Lowville, moving to live with her daughter in New Windsor in August 2006. 

She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville, and Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, N.Y. 

Mrs. Boucher
loved to cook and to work in her vegetable and flower gardens. She also loved to bake for her neighbors and friends, and enjoyed sharing her plants and vegetables.

Surviving besides her daughter and her husband, are a son and his wife, John R. and June Boucher, Victor, N.Y.; a brother and his wife, Steve and Dolores Bush, Watertown; three grandchildren, Thomas Boucher, Christopher DeWitt, and Doreen Morris; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Two brothers, Frank and James Bush, and four sisters, Elizabeth Etta, Rose Bush, Mary Ann Bailey and Anna Bush, all died before her.
