Gertrude Colegrove, 93, formerly of 2938 Cataract St., died Friday, May 13,
at The Country Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center where she has been a resident since March
2009.
Born Oct. 8, 1917, in Lowville, the daughter of Charles and Retta Waite
Mclane, she attended schools in Lowville.
She married Clayton Colegrove on Nov. 17, 1945, in Copenhagen. Clayton died
Jan. 13, 1985.
She was a cook for many years at various places in the area.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Amell, Tennessee, and Linda Colegrove, Castorland; two
sisters-in-law, Ruth Mclane, Carthage, and Murial Hancock, Croghan; two brothers, Ernest Mclane, New
Jersey, and Milford Mclane, Lowville; two grandchildren, Heather Paquette and Mike
Amell; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband and two sisters, Gladys
Kerfein and Helen Tolaka; and a brother, Clarence Mclane.
Calling hours will be held 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at
Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home, Inc., 10229 Washington Street, Copenhagen. A
funeral service will take place at 3 p.m. in the funeral
home. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Copenhagen.
