GLENFIELD, N.Y. –
Richard Thomas
Cleaver, 83, of East Shore Road, formerly of Penfield, NY,
died early Tuesday morning at his home on Chases Lake, where
he had been under the care of his loving family and Lewis
County Hospice. Arrangements are with the Iseneker
Funeral Home, 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, NY 13367.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at
3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Lowville, with Rev.
Sarah G. Sanderson-Doughty, Pastor, officiating. A
gathering in the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall
will immediately follow the Memorial Service with burial at
5:00 p.m. in the Lowville Rural Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; three sons and two
daughters-in-law, John and Bonnie Cleaver of
Rochester, NY; Mark and Cindy Cleaver of Naples, NY, David
Cleaver of East Rochester, NY; a niece, Beth Ann Coleman of
Fairport, NY; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles S. and
Dorothy Cleaver of Skowhegan, Maine; five grandchildren, and
a great-grandson.
Mr. Cleaver was born on March 2, 1923 in New Haven,
Connecticut, a son of Thomas S. and Celia Tannar Cleaver.
He graduated from Syracuse University in 1947 with a
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He served
with the U.S. Merchant Marine Service during WWII. On
July 12, 1947, he married Carol Coleman at Immanuel Baptist
Church, Rochester, NY, with his father, Rev. Thomas S.
Cleaver and Rev. Osgoode McDonald, officiating.
Mr. Cleaver, along with his business partner, owned and
operated a distribution business in Watervliet, NY for many
years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian
Church, Lowville, and enjoyed woodworking, and the outdoors,
especially landscaping and motorcycling.
