GLENFIELD,
N.Y. — Muriel E. Stowell, 77, 6840 Odett Rd.,
died Friday morning, May 30, at her home while under the
care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.
Born Oct. 29, 1930, in Ogdensburg, daughter of Frank and
Arlie Bresett Hughes, she was educated in Ogdensburg
schools.
She married Richard R. Stowell March 3, 1955 in
Ogdensburg.
Mrs. Stowell was a homemaker.
She was a member of Lewis County Post 6912 Veteran’s of
Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Lowville American Legion
Auxiliary.
She enjoyed reading, antiquing, traveling in their motor
home and spent winters in Florida.
Surviving besides her husband are a son and his companion,
Shane and Tammy Dailey, Lowville; three daughters and two
sons-in-law, Heather and John Ortlieb, Lowville. Cheryl
Stowell, Tupper Lake, and Shawnee and Steve Davis, Rochester;
two brothers, Francis, Texas, and Bobby, Fla.; three
sisters, Sharon McDonald and Paula Landingham, both of
Ogdensburg, and Phyllis MacIntosh, Norwich; eight
grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and two
great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two sons, Richard D in 1992 and
Rory as an infant. A brother, Kermit, also died before her.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 1,
at Adirondack Funeral Home, Croghan. The funeral service and
burial will be private.
