— Earl
L. “Scotty” Mereau, 92, of Wellesley Island, died Feb.
27 at his winter home in Florida.
A funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at T.R. Jetty
Funeral Home in Clayton. Burial with military honors will be
in Riverside Cemetery Wellesley Island. Calling hours will
be at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral
home.
Born Dec. 26, 1919, in Gananoque, Ontario, he served in the
United States Army from 1944 until he was honorably
discharged in 1946. While in the service he served in the
South Pacific.
After retiring from Hancock Air Force Base as a civil
engineer, he lived on Wellesley Island for over 38 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Margaret (Billy) Huntley and
Sally Locke, both of North Syracuse; two sons, Jack of
Bernards Bay and Dan, Wellesley Island; 12 grandchildren; 13
great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Mary) Connell,
Hannibal; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret, of 59 years, a
daughter, Judy Neville, and a brother, Clarence Mereau.
