Samuel C. VanAtta Jr.

BOONVILLE, N.Y.  — 
Samuel C. "Bubba" VanAtta Jr., 57, of George Kraeger Road, died Tuesday morning, June 21, at his home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday, June 24, at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville, with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, officiating. Burial will follow in Brantingham Cemetery. Calling hours are from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

Born March 1, 1954, in Syracuse, a son of the late Samuel C. Sr. and Eleanor M. Birkenstock VanAtta, he attended country school in Greig, Constableville School, and South Lewis Central School.  

On November 15, 1975, he married Margie Nellenback at the Turin United Methodist Church Parsonage with Rev. Hunter officiating.  

Mr. VanAtta worked at area sawmills and in the woods, and area farms before working at AMF in Lowville, where he retired due to injury in 1991. 

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.  

Surviving are
his wife, Margie; two children and their spouses, Kevin and Melissa VanAtta, Boonville, and Samantha and Steven Kirkbride, Boonville; four brothers, Leo O. VanAtta, and his companion Julie Lehr, California, Richard A. VanAtta, Boonville, Newcomb F. VanAtta, Boonville; Rew W. VanAtta, Bath, N.Y.; a sister, Annis Backer, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Cheyenne, Zachary, Kendal, Steven, Damien, Kayla, Kristopher, and Donovan; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  

He was predeceased by two sisters, Dodie Montroy and Dorothy Volpe.
