Peter S. Cooley

ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y. —  Peter S. Cooley, 56, of 139 Northern Ave., died Monday, June 25, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, where he was admitted last week. 

Born Sept. 7, 1950, at E. J. Noble Hospital in Alexandria Bay, the son of Seymour and Marjorie Monaghan Cooley, he graduated from Alexandria Central School and attended Jefferson Community College.  

He married Clela H. Mulcahy at the Clayton Methodist Church on Nov. 29, 1969. 

Peter was employed by the Thousand Islands Sun and the Gouverneur Tribune Press in advertising sales before becoming disabled.  

He was an Honorary Member of the Alexandria Bay Fire Department, a former Odd Fellow, past president and hockey coach for the Alexandria Bay Minor Hockey Association, a member of the Alexandria Bay United Methodist Church and a member of the Hopewell Hall I.O.O.F. Lodge.  

He enjoyed fishing and bingo. 

Surviving are his wife, Clela; two sons and their wives, Jeffrey and Dana Cooley, Rochester, and Brent and Bridget Cooley, Dracut, Mass; three granddaughters, Bree and Brynne Cooley, Dracut, Mass., and Ella Cooley, Rochester; a sister, Helethea R. Roy, Alexandria Bay; a sister-in-law, Patricia Cooley , Clayton; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and a great nephew.  

A brother, Lynn L. Cooley, died before him. 

Calling hours will be held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Costello Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Costello Funeral Home with Rev. Edgar Hunter officiating.
