Nancy J. Huntress

PHILADELPHIA, N.Y. –  Nancy Jane Huntress, 65, of Garden Road died Tuesday evening at her home under the care of her family.

Born January 30, 1941 in Carthage daughter the late Stanley and Raeburn Collier Moore, she graduated from Carthage Central School in 1958 and earned her Bachelors Degree in Math and Business at SUNY Albany in 1962 and also her Masters Degree in Business Education from SUNY Albany.

She taught at Mildred Elly, Albany and Jefferson Community College and in 1970 began teaching at Indian River Central School in the Business Department where she taught Law, Accounting, Business Math and Computer Keyboarding classes, was an advisor for Students Against Drunk Drivers (SADD) and supervised the school store.  She retired in 1999.

She married Wayne L. Huntress on November 27, 1974 in Philadelphia with Rev. Donald Dodds officiating.

Mrs. Huntress enjoyed fishing, teaching Sunday School and crafts and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Philadelphia, Retired Teachers Association, Pleasant Lake Association and the Red Hats of Philadelphia.

Survivors include her husband Wayne L.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Amanda Rae and Stanford Gibson, West Sacramento, Calif., Anne Perciebelle Huntress, Lyons Falls; and one son, Andrew Lloyd Huntress, Old Forge; one brother, Richard Moore, Natural Bridge.  

She is predeceased by her parents and one brother, Stanley Moore, Jr.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at United Methodist Church of Philadelphia with Rev. Penni Farrington officiating.  Burial will be at Childs Falls Sunrise Cemetery, Philadelphia.  Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4:00 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., Theresa.
