Marian Drexel
Lanzatella Benvenuto, 89, passed away peacefully Saturday,
July 9, at her home on the St. Lawrence River in Cape
Vincent.
A funeral Mass will be said 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, at St.
Vincent of Paul Church, Cape Vincent. Visitation will be
held 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Born July 19, 1921, in Rochester, the daughter of Francis
and Estelle Drexel, she graduated from Franklin High School
in Rochester, where she worked for IBM during World War
II.
She and her husband Nicholas raised their family in
Rochester.
In 2003, she moved to Cape Vincent.
Marian was predeceased by her husbands, John Lanzatella, and
Nicholas J. Benvenuto, Sr.; a brother, Jack Drexel; a
sister, Doris Hillhouse; her children, John (Ellen
Fleischmann), Dayton, Ohio, Nicholas (Lynn), Rochester, and
Mary A. Benvenuto, Cape Vincent; grandchildren, Alexandra
Benvenuto, Dallas, Texas, and Antonina and Nicholas
Benvenuto, Cape Vincent.
An avid gardener known
for her hollyhocks, Marian was a member of the Rosary
Society of St. Vincent of Paul, and the Cape Vincent
Improvement League.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be
sent to the Cape Vincent Community Library, Real St., Cape
Vincent, NY 13618.
