Edna M. Mathis

LOWVILLE, N.Y.  —  Edna M. Mathis, 91, formerly of Ford Street, Boonville, and River Street, Lowville, currently residing at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, died Saturday evening, July 9, 2011 at Lewis County General Hospital. 

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, at Lowville Baptist Church with Rev. Anthony Bradseth, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Turin Cemetery.  Calling hours are from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 11, at Iseneker Funeral Home Inc., Lowville.

Born May 18, 1920, in Newport, N.Y., a daughter of the late Harvey and May Rood Eversonhe graduated in 1940 from Boonville High School, and from Utica School of Commerce in 1941.  

She married Earl G. Mathis on Sept. 6, 1941, at Marjorie Perry’s home in Boonville. Mr. Mathis died Feb. 22, 1994. 

Mrs. Mathis worked at Oriental/General Telephone Company in Boonville, and later worked at Revere Copper and Brass in Rome, N.Y.   

She was a member of Lowville Baptist Church. Mrs. Mathis was a lifelong member of Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Rebecca Lodge #475 in Boonville, and Past District Deputy of Oneida-Herkimer Rebecca Lodge.  

She was a member of the Zenith-Copenhagen Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star, and the Past Noble Grands Association. 

Edna was a lifelong resident of Boonville, living on Ford Street with her husband Earl.  She later moved to Valley View Courts in Lowville, where she had many great friends, and loved to play bingo and cards.  After moving to the nursing home, she had many great friends, and loved to go to baking class on Mondays, play bingo, cards and trivia, and exercise class. 

Special thanks to the third floor staff, you were all like family to her, and also for the loving care given to her by the ICU nurses. 

Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Ann and Joseph Hill, Lowville, Christina and Clarence Moshier, Glenfield; six grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, her twin brother, Harvey and Alice Everson, Lowville; George Everson, Ilion; a sister, Marjory Renodin, Herkimer; a brother-in-law, Floyd Falmer of Ilion; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Five brothers, Ernest, Harry, Roy, Warren, and Leon Everson; and four sisters, Marion Everson, Daisy Everson, Ruth Flander, and Lillian Falmer, all died before her.
