COPENHAGEN, N.Y. –  Eric Linwood Patten, 62, died unexpectedly July 8, 2006 at his Copenhagen farm.

He was born November 27, 1943 at Hartland, Maine  the eldest son of Edward and Barbara Martin Patten.  He graduated from Hartland Academy in 1960, and served in the Maine Army Reserves for 8 years, and owned and operated Patten’s Dairy in St. Albans.  

He later trained and operated Farms Shoppes restaurant chain in Connecticut, then operated the Parker House Dining Room in Boston.  He then operated and was a shareholder in The Silent Woman restaurant in Waterville, Maine,  for over 10 years.  Shortly thereafter, he owned and operated his farm on Bellsqueeze Road in Clinton, Maine, raising wheat and other crops. 

 He completed heavy equipment operations training in Virginia and worked as a pipefitter for the Cianbro Corporation.  Eric then became controller of Operations and Legal Affairs of Row Houses, for Cianchette Brothers in Baltimore, Md.; later purchasing and operating Row Houses, Inc. of Baltimore for a decade or more.  

His final dream was fulfilled when he purchased and operated High Falls Farm in Copenhagen; a small, friendly place much like his hometown of St. Albans.

He was predeceased by his mother, who died June 15, 2002; as well as his younger brothers, Ernest and David.

He will be sadly missed by his father of St. Albans; 2 sisters, Linda Cowan of Hartland, Maine,

and significant other, Wayne Haskell of Garland, Maine, Beatrice and husband Robert Rosen of Atkinson, N.H.; nieces and nephews, Joy and husband Steve, and daughter MacKenzie Kennedy of Medford, N.J.; Tamara, husband James, daughters Rachel and Savanna Leavitt of St. Albans; Kenneth, Sr., wife Renee, and their children, Heather, Jennifer, and Ken Patten, Jr., all of Wesley Chapel, FL; Mark Patten of Miami, Fla.;  a great aunt, Dorothea Green of Hermon, Maine; aunt Geraldine Cole of Hartland, Maine; and by his beloved friends and neighbors who were there for him at his New York residence during his tragic farming accident and death. 

Eric requested no public services, however, a private family committal will be held at the  St. Albans Village Cemetery with Pastor Leonard Reiss officiating.  Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport, ME.  Local arrangements are by Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
