Esther W. Davis, 88, of
Miller Road, LaFargeville, and formerly of Alexandria Bay,
died early Thursday morning, July 14, at River Hospital.
Born Dec. 6, 1922, in Alexandria Bay, the daughter of
Clarence and Marjorie LaFleur Wells, she was the first baby
baptized at St. Cyril’s Roman Catholic Church in
Alexandria Bay. She graduated in 1940 from Alexandria Bay
High School and then Sherwood Music School in Chicago, Ill.
She married Willard R. Davis
on Dec. 10, 1949, at St. Cyril’s Rectory with Fr. Armand
Dusault officiating. Mr. Davis died Oct. 25, 1987.
She was a homemaker, a former Girl Scout leader and a member
of the Alter & Rosary Society at St. Cyril’s Church.
Surviving are a son and hi wife, Brian D. and Janet,
Alexandria Bay; two daughters, Debby K. Davis and her
companion, Louise Mitchell, LaFargeville, and Diane and
Stephen Jarvis, Alexandria Bay; and five grandchildren.
A great-grandson, Phillip Davis, died before her.
A funeral Mass will be said
11 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, at St. Cyril’s Church with Fr.
Douglas Comstock officiating. Burial will be in St.
Cyril’s cemetery.
Arrangements are with Costello Funeral Service, Alexandria
Bay.
