Lawrence E. Craig

WEST CARTHAGE, N.Y.  —  Lawrence E. Craig, 83, of 9 Liberty St., died Wednesday morning, July 27, at Carthage Area Hospital. 

Born
May 15, 1928, in West Carthage, the son of the late Harry and Agnes Mahan Craig, he was a 1946 graduate of West Carthage High School. 

He married the former Elizabeth Langdon on Jan. 29, 1950, in St. James Church, Carthage. Mrs. Craig died April 3, 2006. 

For 44 years, he worked for the St. Regis Paper Company in West Carthage and Deferiet. He retired in 1990.  

Mr. Craig was a member of the United Community Church and the BPOE Lodge # 1762, Carthage. 

He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving are his daughter, Kathryn E. Craig, Carthage; a son and his wife, William and Lorrie Craig, Carthage; a grandson, Lucas W. Craig; a granddaughter, April Lynn Craig, both of Carthage; and several nieces and nephews.  

A daughter, Janie Marie Craig, two brothers, Arthur and Vernard Craig and three sisters, Beulah Bookser, Stella Sigil and Dorothy Soucie, all died before him. 

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home with Rev. Jane E. Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Swinburne Cemetery, Deer River. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 29, at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home.
