Dorothy
M. “Dot” Ehlers, 76, of Lyons Falls, passed away at her
home on Wednesday, Aug. 1, where she was under the care of
Lewis County Hospice
She was born
Jan. 23, 1936, the daughter of Victor and Amelia Badura
Stoffle at home in Turin with the help of a midwife. She
graduated in 1953 from General Martin School in Glenfield.
After graduation she was employed on a dairy farm owned by
Ed and Bertha Yancey. Later she worked as a telephone
operator.
She married Herbert Ehlers on Nov. 20, 1954, at St Mary's
Catholic Church, Glenfield, with Rev. Francis Desrosius
officiating. Together they owned and operated a dairy farm
on Route 12 in Lyons Falls.
Mrs. Ehlers enjoyed her time with family and friends,
cooking, silk flower crafts, puzzle books and her cat, Mr.
Orange.
Surviving are three sons and a daughter and their spouses,
Ricky Ehlers and Nancy Cook, Herb Ehlers and Linda, Randy
Ehlers and Laurie, all from Lyons Falls, and Judy and Ronald
May, Port Leyden; a sister and her husband, Maryann and Tom
O'Brien, Constableville; a sister, Ruth Lamont, Lowville; a
sister-in-law Kay Ehlers, Glenfield; a brother-in-law and
sister-in-law, Rudy and Joan Ehlers, Prattsville; eight
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Herb, who died in
2000. Her parents, Victor and Amelia Stoffle. A brother and
his wife, George and Suzanne Stoffle, and a niece Victoria
Barrows.
Honoring Dorothy's wishes, there will be no calling hours or
funeral.
