Dorothy
McElhattan, 70, of Anthony Street, died Sunday morning at
the Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown, where she had resided
for the past two months.
Born
Nov. 11, 1940, in Cranston, Rhode Island, the daughter of
Harold and Clara Raymond Peckham, she attended Dickerson’s
Business School in San Antonio, Texas.
She worked as a log auditor at Werner Enterprizes in Omaha,
Nebraska.
A marriage to James Belt ended in divorce. She married
Johnny McElhattan on Feb. 19, 1984, in San Antonio, Texas.
Surviving are her husband Johnny; six children, James Belt,
Jr., Alexandria Bay, Mrs. Duane (Terry) Blanchard,
Alexandria Bay, Lisa VanLue, Missouri; Olen Belt, San
Antonio, Texas, Carleen Belt, Ga., and Shawn Belt, New
Mexico; 24 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; four
brothers, Harold, Warren, Allan, Edward Peckham; and four
sisters, Cheryl, Audrey, Lillian, and Jessie.
A sister, Pauline Peckham, predeceased her.
A calling
hour will be held 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Costello
Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay with the funeral service
following at 2 p.m. with Rev. Scott Nyp officiating.
