CASTORLAND, N.Y. —
Robert L.
Terry, 77, of Third Road, died Monday evening at Lewis
County General Hospital, Lowville.
The
funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Iseneker
Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville, with Rev. Daniel L. Chapin
officiating. Calling hours are from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Thursday prior to the funeral at the funeral home. A
graveside service with military honors will be 10 a.m.
Saturday, Aug. 6, at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Croghan.
Born Sept.
28, 1933, in the town of Croghan, a son of the late Alvin
and Gertrude Planck Terry, he graduated in 1952 from Beaver
Falls School, and served in the Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Terry worked for area businesses after his service, and
worked as a mechanic for Richard Rennie for several years.
He married Eleanor L. VerSchneider on June 15, 1970, at Our
Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church at Number Four, N.Y.
After his marriage, he worked as a self-employed mechanic,
and together with his wife owned and operated Terry’s
Garage and Grocery Store in Castorland for many years.
Mr. Terry was
a communicant of the former St. Ann’s Catholic Church,
Castorland.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, making turkey calls,
making maple syrup and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Eleanor; a daughter,
Valerie, and her companion, Dennis Pridell; two grandsons,
Chandler and Noah, all of Naumburg; a brother and
sister-in-law, William and Gloria Terry of Naumburg; nieces,
nephews and cousins.
A brother, Lawrence “Toby” Terry, and three sisters,
Lucille Campany, Shirley Sabo, and Lois Robare, all died
before him.
