Dorothy A. Farrell

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Dorothy A. Farrell, 81, formerly of Kelsey Creek Apartments, passed away Monday, July 30, at the Samaritan Keep Home where she had been a resident for a short time.

Born Aug. 24, 1930, in Watertown, a daughter of Thomas J. and Winifred E. Murphy Farrell, she graduated in 1949 from Watertown High School. 

Miss Farrell was employed by the Watertown City School District as a stenographer for 33 years and retired in 1985. She worked weekends at the Watertown Daily Times on the switchboard from 1987 until 1992.

In 1968, she formed an all girl band, The Dots N’ Dashes of which she was the drummer. 

She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church. 

Miss Farrell was a past president of the YWCA Business and Professional Club, past president of Jeff-Lewis Educational Secretaries Association, past Girl Scout Leader of Troop 90 and Publicity Chairman of Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by cousins and her caregiver, Pam Kennedy.

There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be said 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at St. Patrick’s Church with Rev. Donald Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
