— June R. Barrett, 89, of Wardwell Street, died Friday afternoon at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Piddock Funeral Home in Adams, with Rev. Charles Henderson, pastor of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in the Smithville Cemetery. There will be one hour of calling hours
1 to 2 p.m. preceding the funeral service.
Born June 30, 1922, in Adams Center, daughter of DeElbert and Helen Maude Potter Lee, she graduated from Adams Center High School in 1940.
Following graduation she worked at Newberrys and Empsalls Department stores, Watertown. Later she worked at MacCadam Cheese Company in Adams, then to Northern New York Trust Company, retiring after 31 years in 1984 from Marine Midland Bank, now known as HSBC. Following her retirement, she sold real estate for Paddock Realty and was an office clerk and helped with auctions at Empire Livestock, both in Adams.
She married Raymond J. Barrett of Adams on Jan.3, 1943 in Riverside,
Calif., with Rev. Loyal Hurley officiating. The couple lived in Adams and for many years spent their winters in Orange City and Zephyrhills,
Fla.. Mr. Barrett died June 13, 2007, after a long illness.
Mrs. Barrett is survived by a son and daughter in law, Raymond G. and Susan, Zephyrhills, FL; a daughter and son in law, Ramona and George Russell, Adams, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by two brothers, Orville and Ralph Lee, three sisters, Mildred and twins Marion and Mabel Lee, and one great grandson, Nicholas James LaVancha.
She was a 34 year member of the American Legion Don Rounds Post 586 Auxiliary and treasurer for the Auxiliary for many years. She enjoyed snowmobiling, cards and dancing.
