Eleanor K. Moser

LOWVILLE, N.Y.   —  Funeral services for Eleanor K. Moser, 84, formerly of Brookside Circle, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday August 8th at the Croghan Mennonite Church with the Rev. Evan Zehr , Rev. Chad Atwood and Rev. Julius Moser officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Calling hours will be held  5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 7, at the church.

Eleanor died Friday evening at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility where she had resided for four months.

She was born in Castorland the daughter of John R. and Katie Leis Moser. 

She attended school in Castorland and graduated from Lowville Academy in 1945. She worked as a laborer at Climax Manufacturing in Castorland for 35 years. After her retirement, she provided care for her mother until the time of her death.

She served in Voluntary Service at a children’s home in Philadelphia PA. from January to April 1986. She was a member of the Dorcas Sisters Sewing Circle, taught Sunday school and was involved with the library at church. She also volunteered at  the Agape Shoppe in Watertown. One of her great hobbies was crocheting items and giving them to family members. She enjoyed travelling, spending time with family and gardening.

She is survived by her siblings, Nelda Steria, Deer River, Nelson and Wilbur and Sharon of Castorland, Robert, Severna Park, Maryland, Betty Lehman, Lowville and Ruth and Derwood Widrick, Beaver Falls. She also has several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by a special friend, Joan Murphy Sweeney of California who was a fresh air child on her parents farm for many years.

She was predeceased by two brothers in law  Daniel  Steria, Beryl Lehman and a sister in law, Lorenna Moser.

In place of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Croghan Mennonite Church library or to the charity of one’s choice.
