Barbara W. Skinner

LOWVILLE, N.Y.  —  Barbara W. Skinner, 80, passed Friday, Aug. 12, at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility where she had resided since Jan. 19, 2005.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at the Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. Burial will follow in Brantingham Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Born Feb. 8, 1931, in Lyons Falls, a daughter of Jesse and Lavina Watson, she graduated from Lyons Falls High School.

She married Robert M. Skinner on Aug. 19, 1950. The couple resided in Grieg where she was the town clerk for several years and worked at the Burdick Superette Store. She then worked at Victory Food Market in Lyons Falls as a cashier and in the meat and produce department up until she retired in 1974.

Following her retirement Barbara worked part time at the Lyons Falls Public Library. 

She was a member of the Port Leyden Eastern Stars, secretary and treasurer of the Lyons Falls School Alumni for many years, and a very active member of the Forest Presbyterian Church in Lyons Falls.

Mr. Skinner worked at the Town of Grieg Garage for over 30 years.

Among her survivors are her husband, Robert M. Skinner, Glenfield; two daughters and their husbands, Mary Jane and Donald W. "Bill" Raymond, Gaye Ann and Wayne O. Post, all of Lowville; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Seven brothers and sisters died before her.
