Blanche G. Jackson

BLACK RIVER, N.Y.  —  Blanche G. Jackson, 93, of Hadley Road, passed Friday, Aug. 12, at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home, Watertown, following a long illness.

A memorial service will be held noon Saturday, Aug. 20, at Bruce Funeral Home, Black River, with Rev. Bruce Chapman officiating. A calling hour will precede the service form 11 a.m. until noon. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

Born March 2, 1918, in Chateaugay, N.Y., daughter of Fay and Gladys Mitchell Bryan, she worked all her life as a caregiver. 

Her first job as a teenager was in NYC where she was employed as a nanny. She later worked as a nursing aide in various nursing homes and for private individuals. 

After her retirement, she volunteered for Hospice of Jefferson County.

Blanche had a deep love of the Adirondacks, she was an avid reader, and also enjoyed doing needle work. 

She loved to pick wild berries with her grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Warren and Marjorie Weidner, Black River, and Walter and Sandy Weidner, Watertown; a daughter and her husband, Blanche and Michael Morrison, Cocoa Beach, Fla.;  step children, from her marriage to Clarence Mooney, Shirley Duesler, Rotonda, Fla., Phyllis Ward, Homosassa, Fla., Tom Mooney, Arlington, Tenn., Don Mooney, Lowville, Millie Oser, Homosassa, Fla., Joanne Mooney, Plymouth, Mass, Jim Mooney, Fort Plain, N.Y., Dick Mooney, Adams, Kathy Rollman, Indian Trail, N.C.; her stepchildren, from her marriage to Handley Jackson, Handley "Jack" Jackson; Boonville, James Jackson, Boonville, Robert Jackson, Pittsfield, Mass., Thomas Jackson, Liverpool; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Malcolm Weidner of Guam and Frederick Weidner, Rochester, two sisters, Veletta and Thedda, and a brother, Martin, all died before her. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Clarence Mooney; and divorced from her first husband, Charles Weidner.
