Bette J. Tooker

CARTHAGE, N.Y.  —  Bette J. Tooker, 83, of 4703 Beech Ridge Road, died Thursday afternoon at Carthage Area Hospital. 

Born
June 30, 1928, in Croghan, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Rose Defone Hoch, she graduated in 1946 from Beaver Falls High School. 

She married David P. Tooker on Aug. 24, 1946, in Washington, D.C. The marriage ended in divorce.

She was a secretary in Washington, DC. , worked at Bomax in Watertown for several years, was a cook at the rectory of St. James Church and lastly, provided home care for several families in the area. 

Mrs. Tooker was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post # 789, Carthage.

Surviving are four daughters and their spouses, Deborah Owens, Watertown, Luann and Jack Derouin, Lowville, Peggy Tooker, Baldwinsville, and Mary and David Traylor, Carthage; two sons, David Tooker, West Carthage, and Dennis and Julie Tooker, Castorland; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Connie Schultz, Lowville, and Carol Tripp, Carthage; three brothers, Roger Hoch, Carthage, Carl Hoch, Port Orchard, Wa., and Kenneth Hoch Jr., Lowville; and several nieces and nephews. 

A sister, Marjorie Lanzetta, died before her.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, in Riverside Cemetery Annex, Beaver Falls, with the Rev. George F. Maroun officiating. Calling hours will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home.
