Minnie T. Hartman, 86, of
County Route 1, died Tuesday evening at her home under the
loving care of her family.
Born Dec. 25, 1924, on Wellesley Island, the daughter of
George and Alice I. Brown Towers, she graduated from
Alexandria High School.
She married Walter Hartman on Oct. 19, 1946, at Densmore Bay
Church on Wellesley Island. She lived on the island for 68
years before moving to Alexandria Bay. Mr. Hartman died Aug.
9, 1992.
Minnie was employed for many years by the Thousand Islands
Bridge Authority as a cashier at the Boldt Castle
attraction.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the
American Legion Auxiliary. She also enjoyed painting and
golfing.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Daniel W. and
Joanie, Great Falls, Mont., Richard H. and Teresa,
Alexandria Bay, and Vincent C. and Martha, Alexandria Bay;
four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Four brothers, David, Howard, Earl and George Towers,
predeceased her.
Calling hours will be held 10
a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 26, at Costello Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Densmore
Church on Wellesley Island with Rev. Fredericka Webb
officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery,
Wellesley Island.
