Robert H. Weaver

CALCIUM, N.Y.  —  Robert H. Weaver, 94, of 25637 Bush Rd., Calcium, passed Monday, Aug. 29, at his home.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown. Burial with military honors will follow in Sanford Corners Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at the funeral home. An Elks service will be held at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born Aug. 3, 1917, in Barnes Corners, the son of Harold L. and Alta Hoff Weaver, he moved to Calcium at the age of 6 and attended Calcium Schools until 8th grade.

Following school, he worked at Cahill’s Milk Plant in Calcium until going to work for the NY Air Brake Co. in 1941. 

He married Muriel Plank of Watertown on Aug. 3, 1940, at the Stone Street Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Weaver entered the Navy on March 6, 1944, and served during World War II. He received the WWII Victory Medal and American Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class on Jan. 9, 1946.

Upon returning home, he returned to New York Air Brake where he worked as an inspector up until his retirement on April 16, 1982. Mrs. Weaver worked at W.T. Grant’s as a clerk and continued to work there after it was taken over by Kmart. Following their retirement, the couple traveled through out the United States. She passed March 25, 1988.

He was a member of the Watertown VFW Post 1400, Watertown Elks Lodge #496 and Elk of the Year in 1996 to 1997, an honorary member of the North Pole Fire Department, member of the Pamelia Senior Citizens Organization. 

He enjoyed gardening.

Among his survivors are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary G. and Sandy Weaver, Green Castle, Pa., David L. Weaver, Calcium, and his companion, Glenda P. Cook, Evans Mills, and Michael A. and Debra A. Weaver, Calcium; a daughter and her husband, Melody A. and Dana Berry, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Jean LaRock, Calcium; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A son, Larry R. Weaver, and a sister, Dorothy Segovis, passed before him.
