WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Charles Prosser, 72, formerly of Franklin Street and Madonna Home, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 30, at Stonehedge Nursing Home in Rome.

Mr. Prosser was born Nov. 9, 1938, in Watertown to Walter and Mary Gilcrest Prosser.

He married Carolyn J. Hart on Aug. 10, 1957. She died Sept. 6, 2009. 

Mr. Prosser was a self employed painter. He loved cars and especially Cadillacs. 

Surviving are a son Wayne and Howard Prosser, Fla.; three daughters, Laurie and Larry Hosmer, Karyn and Mark Alteri, and Lisa and Eric Hunter, all of Watertown; a sister, Betty Beard, S.C.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. 

Two brothers, Walter and Marc, died before him.  

There will be a calling hour noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
