MILLS, N.Y. — Marlene M. Wenk, 72, passed
Wednesday, Aug. 31, at her home on Nellis Road where she was under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Sat., Sept. 3, at Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown with Rev. David Snyder,
pastor of Evans Mills and Philadelphia United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Sanford Corners Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, and noon
to 1 p.m. Sat., Sept. 3, at the funeral home.
Born Feb. 9, 1939, in Watertown, the daughter of John A. and Sarah Rexford MacDonald, she graduated
in 1956 from Watertown High School.
She married Arnold J. Wenk of Evans Mills on Dec. 1, 1956, at Burrville Congregational Church.
The couple then owned and operated the family farm up until 1987, she worked at JoAnne Fabrics for ten years, for the Indian River School District for ten years and she enjoyed quilting. Her husband passed
Sept. 13, 2000.
Among her survivors are her son and daughter in law, Larry A. and Debra E. Wenk, Adams Center; two daughters and a son in law, Janet W. Mills and her companion, Vinnie Gillette,
Fla., Cheryl A. and Robert G. Makinson, Nepean, Ontario; a brother and sister in law, Bruce and Diane MacDonald, Wisconsin; a sister and brother in law, Susan and Dick Lillie,
Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Welser, and Arlene Jones, both of Evans Mills;
eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Jefferson County or to the Evans Mills United Methodist Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Todd, Louise, Kim, Linda and all her friends.
