Donald A.
Sheltray, 74, of 23260 Boyd Road, died Sunday, Sept.
4, in the emergency room of the Carthage Area Hospital after
being stricken at his residence.
Born March
23, 1937, in Carthage, the son of the late Aubrey and Dora
Oliver Sheltray, he attended Carthage Schools.
He married Ethel Marie Walters on Oct. 5, 1957, in Great
Bend. She died Aug. 22, 2007.
Mr. Sheltray worked at the former Durkee’s Bakery before
his 25 year career in the maintenance department at Carthage
Area Hospital. He retired several years ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl Gooden, Carthage; a son and
his wife, Donald M. and Susan Sheltray, Natural Bridge; a
granddaughter, Brittany Ann Donner, Fort Carson, Colo.; a
sister, Sharon Johnson, Carthage; and several nieces and
nephews.
A sister, Helen Waite, and a brother, Walter Sheltray, both
died before him.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8,
at Fairview Cemetery, Carthage. with Rev. Robert Barone, pastor
of the First Baptist Church, officiating. There will be no
public calling hours.
Arrangements are with the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home,
Carthage.
