CASTORLAND, N.Y. — Daniel J. Zehr, 69, State Route 126, died Monday evening in the emergency room
at Lewis County General Hospital after being stricken at home.
Born Nov. 27, 1941, in
Lowville, the son of Gerard and Ellen Brennon Zehr, he
graduated in 1959 from Beaver River Central School.
He married Carol Edick on June 29, 1963, at St. Stephen’s
Catholic Church in Croghan. They operated a dairy farm on
the Swiss Rd. for 35 years, retiring in 2005.
He was a former member of the Silver Mine Hunting Club.
Surviving are his wife, Carol; three sons and a daughter-in-law,
Daniel J. Jr., and Douglas, Castorland, and Jason and Julie,
Rome; three daughters and a son-in-law, Lynne M. Wilder and
Denise Zehr, Lowville, and Michelle and Rick Wolff,
Castorland; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Mary
Ellen and John Dean, Ariz., Linda and Bill Thomas,
Jacksonville, Fla., Luanne and LaMar Brown, Macon Ga., and
Lila and Floyd Tabolt, Lowville; a brother and his wife,
Joseph and Tammy, Lowville; nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
A memorial service will be
held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Adirondack Funeral Home,
Croghan, with the Rev. Bruce Lyndaker officiating. There
will be no calling hours. A gathering of Dan’s friends and
family will be held immediately following the memorial
service in the fellowship hall at St. Stephen’s Catholic
Church.
