HARRISVILLE, N.Y. — Helen M.
Burke, 88, Route 3, died in the emergency room of Carthage Area Hospital.
Funeral
services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept., 16, at Adirondack
Funeral Home with Rev. John Putney officiating. Burial will
follow in Harrisville Cemetery. A calling hour will be held
from 10 to 11 prior to the funeral.
Born Sept. 7, 1923, in Newtown Fall, a daughter of Ernest
and Anna LeGault Beaulieu, she graduated in 1942 from Newton
Falls High School.
She married Robert Burke on April 4, 1945, in Newton Falls.
He died Dec. 13, 2010.
Mrs. Burke worked as a hairdresser for many years, was
employed by Harrisville Central School in food service and
worked in the surgarbush alongside her husband. She was a
member of the New York State and Lewis County Maple
Producers Associations.
She also enjoyed gardening, camping, golfing and bowling.
She and Bob spent winters in Florida for 25 years.
Surviving are two children and their spouses, Dan and Judy,
Harrisville, and Linda and Thomas Todd, Norwood; a sister,
Pauline Demarse, Watertown; three grandchildren, Sarah and
Charles Burke, and Kimberly Hoppaugh, and two grea-
grandchildren, Paige Cook and Danny Hoppaugh; several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her husband,
two brothers, Ralph, Hubert, and a sister Frances, all died
before her.
