William A. Summers

LOWVILLE, N.Y.  —  William A. Summers, 73, of South State Street, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, at his home. 

The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Nichols officiating. 

Born May 2, 1938, in Watertown, a son of Alden and Darlo McMartin Summers, he graduated from Sackets harbor High School. William served with the Army from June to December 1956.  

He went to work as a technician at the Schoeller Paper Mill, Pulaski, in 1966, retiring in 1999. 

William was a lifetime member of the United Paper workers International Union # 11066.  

He belonged to the Black River Valley Amateur Radio Club of Lowville and the club in Boonville.  

He enjoyed photography and the outdoors. 

Surviving are his companion, Sandra Woolschlager, Lowville; a daughter and her companion, Robin Summers and David Vann, Adams; a son Scott Summers, Adams; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his step-sons, Ricky Beaman, Florida, and Chris Beaman, Lowville; a sister Anelta Kent, Virginia, nieces and nephews.  

A sister, Brenda Smith, died before him.
