CARTHAGE, N.Y.  —  Lola H. Woods, 77, of 801 Tamarak Drive, Apt. A, and formerly of 329 S. Clinton St., died Sunday evening, Oct. 2, at Carthage Area Hospital. 

Born Dec. 24, 1933, in Carthage, the daughter of the late Levi and Anna Kelley Higman, she was a 1951 graduate of Augustinian Academy.  

Lola married Richard G. Woods on Aug. 14, 1955, at St. James Church with Rev. Dacey officiating.

She worked as a mental hygiene therapy aide with the State of New York in the geriatric day care program for 15 years. She was an active volunteer for the Carthage Area Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband, Richard G., Carthage; a daughter and her husband, Lisa and Wayne Noyes, Ravena, a son, Timothy Woods, Canaan, Vt; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildrenl two sisters, Jane Nortz and Joanne Raycraft, both of Carthage; and a brother, Frank Higman, Niagara Falls. 

A daughter, Ellen Woods died in infancy in 1959, and two brothers, Thomas Higman and M. Patrick Higman, also died before her.

Funeral services will be held noon Friday, Oct. 7, at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. George F. Maroun, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Hermon Cemetery at the family’s convenience. A calling hour will be held 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Oct. 7, at St. James Church.
