Catherine M. Hodge

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Catherine M. Hodge, 96, formerly of Gotham Street, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, at Angel's Inn, Pine Street, where she had resided for over four years.

The funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at Holy Family Church with Rev. Steven Murray officiating with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery. 

Arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.

Born Feb. 9, 1915, in Watertown, the daughter of James and Nellie Chavoustie Marskell, she was a 1937 graduate of Mercy School of Nursing, received her RN from NYU, and did graduate work at both Syracuse University and St. Lawrence University.

She married Francis G. "Stub" Hodge on April 24, 1943, in the rectory of Holy Family Church, and he died Oct. 3, 2006.

Mrs. Hodge was a school nurse for the Watertown City School District for over thirty years, working in several elementary schools. 

She enjoyed golf, genealogy, travel, and gardening.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Richard F. and Sandra Hodge, Cape Vincent, and Thomas R. and Patricia Hodge, Saratoga Springs, and several nieces and nephews. 

Besides her husband, Stub, she was predeceased by two brothers, Ed and Howard Marskell, and three sisters, Nora Hutto, Alice Flynn, and Helen Godfrey.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Angel's Inn, 518 Pine St., Watertown, NY 13601.
