WATERTOWN, N.Y. —
Sam Miller Sr., 69, of Kelsey Creek Apartments, Superior
Street, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, at his home surrounded
by his family and under the care of Hospice of Jefferson
County.
Born Aug. 30, 1942, the
son of the late Ada and Lawson Peden Miller, Sr., Killen,
Alabama, he attended schools in Alabama. He was drafted into
the Army in 1960 where he served three years.
He married Leona Bergh on
June 23, 1964, in Waukegan, Ill.
Sam had many jobs in Watertown and on Fort Drum. His last
job was being a cook at Samaritan Medical Center where he
retired in 2006 due to his health.
Surviving besides his wife,
Leona, are a son, Sam Jr., Glen Park; three daughters,
Jeanette Scharf, Philadelphia, Deithra Miller, Watertown,
and Kelly Smith, Watertown; two brothers, Kenneth and
Lawson, Jr., Killen, Ala.; four sisters, Edna Gauntrey,
Francis Nelson, Marie Hooks, and Elizabeth Ann; and six
grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he
was predeceased by a brother, Frank.
There is no service. Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home.
