Patricia Diane Brimmer Ryan Hunt, 80, formerly
of County Route 125, died Friday, Oct. 7, at Samaritan Keep
Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 20, 1931, in Pulaski, the daughter of James and
Ellen Greene Leonard, she graduated from Immaculate Heart
Central and the Mercy Hospital Nursing School as a registered
nurse.
She worked as a scrub nurse in the operating room for Dr.
Michael DeBakey, who was the first to do a heart transplant
in the United States. She later worked at the House of the
Good Samaritan Hospital Watertown as a RN retiring in 1997.
During her 24 years at The House of the Good Samaritan, she
worked on 3 Main, CCU, ICU and Outpatient Recovery Room.
Patricia was a communicant of All Saints Church Chaumont and
a member of the Alter and Rosary Society there. She was also
a member of the Lyme Garden Club and the Auxiliary of the
Chaumont Fire Department. Pat was also a volunteer at the
House of The Good Samaritan Hospital and worked as Librarian
to the Lyme Free Library, Chaumont.
She was active with friends enjoying, cooking, sewing, golf,
gardening, cross Country skiing, bird watching and traveling
to name a few.
Surviving are a son, John L. Brimmer, Bremerton, Wa.; two
daughters Diane Brimmer-Smith, Lindale, Ga., and Ellen E.
and her husband Brian D. Lister, Chaumont; five grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren; several Nieces and
nephews.
A son, Charles Bryce Brimmer, and brother, Joseph D. Leonard,
died before her.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Samaritan Keep
Nursing Home Patient Activity Fund, 133 Pratt St. Watertown,
or the American Cancer Society.
A funeral Mass will be
said 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at All Saints Church,
Chaumont, with Father Pierre Aubin, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be 3 p.m. after the service in Glenwood
Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are with the Becker – Cleveland Funeral Home,
Chaumont.
