HENDERSON, N.Y. — Eva May Clay, 95, of Winter Haven,
Fla., and formerly of Henderson, passed away, Tuesday, Oct.
4, in Winter Haven, Fla.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Carpenter-Stoodley
Funeral Home, Belleville, with Rev. Loren Widrick
officiating. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery.
Born June 6, 1916, Henderson, a daughter of Don and Minnie
Alexander Ostrom, she graduated from Henderson Central
School and Jefferson Community College.
She married George E. Clay on Nov 10, 1954.
Eva May began her printing career at the William S. Rice Co.
in Adams. She later worked as a linotype operator for Corse
Press of Sandy Creek, publishers of the Holstein-Friesian
World and the Sandy Creek News. Eva joined the Johnson
Newspaper Corporation November 1, 1968, working 13 years as
a linotype and key punch operator in the composing room
retiring in January of 1982.
Mr. Clay passed away November 22, 1983.
Mrs. Clay was a member and past patron of the Eudora Chapter
310 Henderson and past Grand Representative to the Grand
Chapter of Colorado from 1975 to 1976.
Surviving are two step children, Elizabeth Luczynski, Fla.,
and Michael Clay, Massachusetts; nieces and nephews, Phyllis
(Maitland) Petrie, Arthur and Phillip Maitland and Donna K.
Montague.
Two sisters, Emma O. Kepner, Irene Maitland, a brother
Arthur Ostrom; and two nieces, Dorothy (Maitland) Caulkins
and Marge (Maitland) Wioncek, all died before her.
